Nathan Rooney

College/University: Community College of Allegheny County

Nathan Rooney grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated with high honors from Bethel Park High School in 2021. Throughout high school, he actively participated in The Scouts, the school's music program, the NHS, and Teen Leadership Corps. Nathan's passion for STEM began during his time in AP Physics.

After saving for a year to afford college, Nathan started taking classes at CCAC in the fall of 2022. He plans to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2024, where he will major in Engineering Physics. While he intends to pursue graduate school immediately after completing his undergraduate studies, Nathan

is also open to the possibility of working in industry as an intermediary.

Nathan finds inspiration in the practical applications of STEM and its potential to solve problems in innovative ways. Additionally, he appreciates the beauty of pure mathematics. His experiences have deeply ingrained in him a strong belief in collaboration and the belief that everyone deserves access to quality education.
